OSU Test Session at WindShape facility in Tulsa
We recently welcomed Oklahoma State University (OSU), led by Dr. Anthony Comer and the S2FAR research group, to our WindShape testing facility in Tulsa, Oklahoma. Their team conducted a multi-day campaign focused on advanced UAV aerodynamic testing, highlighting how our facility enables controlled, repeatable, and customizable research environments.
This project illustrates how our Test Facility can be a key resource for universities, R&D labs, and companies seeking an alternative to traditional wind tunnels.
For the first series of tests, OSU engineers deployed a setup combining:
This configuration allowed them to measure aerodynamic forces and moments on a statically mounted vehicle while adjusting flight parameters:
The goal: generate high-resolution aerodynamic data for improved modeling, validation, and flight performance prediction.
The second experimental setup focused on UAV dynamic behavior. Using the OSU drone, a custom flight stand built by the S2FAR team, and the same 16x12 WindShaper, the team measured the roll-axis control response under steady and fully repeatable wind conditions.
This type of testing is critical for:

First test on a robotic arm

Second test on the custom flight stand built by the S2FAR Team
Our Tulsa Test Center is designed to empower aerospace pioneers by providing the tools, expertise, and controlled wind environments needed to push their projects forward. Teams like OSU value the ability to combine:
Whether you’re developing new UAV platforms, validating aerodynamic models, or performing control-system research, our Test Facility allows you to test faster, safer, and with higher fidelity.
Our test center is open for bookings and supports: universities
If you need a controlled, repeatable, and customizable wind-testing environment, our team can help design and execute your testing campaign.
